Welcome to BecomeTheBest.com, the companion site for Mr. Gretz's classes at Stephen T. Badin High School.

This page is for parents and students of the Integrated Technologies 1 classes. What can you expect for the coming semester? In the "Technology" aspect, we'll see Word processing. Presentations. Online collaboration. Photo and video editing. Google Earth. Search engine use maximization. Simple databases. Increased security awareness. The "Integrated" part will come as we learn new technology in the context of material being studied in other classes.

My goal this year is to provide you with technology skills to become the best at whatever you dare to be! Every week I'll post what we'll be doing in class, and pending assignments.

IT IS EVERY STUDENT'S RESPONSIBILTY TO CHECK THIS PAGE AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK, more often is recommended.

Week 1 - 8/21 & 22/08

During our first week, the following topics will be addressed:

Your seating assignment
Class expectations and rules; information to include on all submissions.
Meet BecomeTheBest.com!
Fire drill procedures
Badin's "Responsible Use of Technology" Policy reviewed with students.
Signed forms must be returned by August 27 or demerits will be issued.
Introduction to class programs & processes.

Assignment 1
"Who Am I?" - create a document introducing yourself to your classmates. Include a description of how you have implemented or could implement technology in your coursework. You may, of course, use technology (however you define it at this point) in completing this assignment. More details in class. Minimum 300 words, due 8/25.

Week 2 - 8/25/08

During our first full week, the following topics will be addressed:

How to log into your computer and onto Badin's server
Fundamental Windows XP skills
Headphones acquired - purchase here ($3) All students must have headphones by the beginning of next week.
Open Office Writer - our classroom word processor.
Use of Template drive files
Dive right into formatting with character and paragraph formats.
And of course, your "Who Am I's"!
